Contemplating about working for yourself can bring out all sorts of anxieties that pepper questions at you. Questions like, What if I don’t have a college degree?

Do you know how many millionaires today never got a college degree? Some didn’t even finish high school. Mary Kay, the powerful success behind the well-known cosmetics company didn’t let that stop her. She used drive and focus with a focus on her goals and she achieved what she set out to do.

The man behind the movies kids and many adults love and treasure quit high school as a teenage and built Walt Disney into the money maker that it is today. Lack of education won’t make or break you if you set your mind to something and decide that whatever it takes you’re going to do it, then you will reach the success you’re looking for. Those who win are those who fall down but then get back up one more time.

Now and then, all it takes is an idea where others can’t see the possibility. Take Bill Gates for example. He believed enough in what he was doing that he took an unconventional route, said goodbye to college and traded that for life as a billionaire.

You can bet that not everyone got onboard with his dream. Anytime you step out with an idea, a dream or a possibility, there are going to be people who will try to tell you all the reasons it won’t work.

You’ll hear every reason under the sun as to why you should take a more conventional route in life. They’ll tell you to be reasonable or get the education first to have something to fall back on. They don’t believe that your work from home business will succeed. But they don’t have to. The only one who has to be steadfast in believing and knowing it will succeed is you.

That’s not to say that you shouldn’t heed the advice of someone who has been there, done that – because there are some work at home jobs that can break both your bank account and your spirit if you get caught up in them.

List Building

Building your list is something that should be done from day 1. You don’t wait until you’re a success to start building it. People do that, worrying over whether anyone will agree that they have something worthy of sharing.

You start your list building set up before you begin social marketing. You do it before you create your first info product. It’s the foundation for a profitable online business.

If you are scared of not having anything to say, then at least get the framework together so that you can be ready to send out messages as soon as your thoughts are gathered.

If money is an obstacle, that’s still no excuse. Aweber is affordable for almost anyone – and one of the most reliable companies in existence. But if bill collectors are at your door with pitchforks, go the free route.

An email autoresponder system like www.getresponse.com is free to get started with. There will be many limitations put on you, including topics you’re allowed to email about, but it’s worth starting the journey rather than putting it off.

Then, as soon as you have the $12.30 or so to cover it, import your list into Aweber instead and start using them to manage your communications.

It’s easy to import. Just click the Subscribers tab and the Import. Copy the subscribers from one tool like Excel and paste it into the import area like this:

John@JohnDoe.com, John

You will have to fill out a section that tells Aweber how those people joined your list. Did they join with another email system like www.getresponse.com, or did they mail in a postcard with their information, for example?

You can even import custom fields if you took their phone number, for example. Once you import, and make sure each field is set up properly email, name, phone, etc., then make sure you save your new imported list.

3.         Selling products. If you have a hobby like making and selling crafts you can expand your business online with a website. Set up a website that caters to your product offerings. Market these products online to drive traffic to your website. If you can’t do this try fiveer. This is a great start to try to sell something for $5.00

4.         Selling on eBay. With this idea, you set up shop on the Internet. You can sell products you created or items you own that you want to sell. Many now make a living selling on eBay. As your business grows, you can expand to involve other product markets.

5.         Freelancing. Many online and offline businesses are looking for help. Freelancers lower the overhead of the company thus becoming more profitable for many jobs than hiring someone to work in the office. Teleseminars are an great way to reach new prospects and to turn the
people already on your list into even better prospects. In reality the sound of your voice
can really be powerful, so don’t be nervous to let yourself be heard.
A teleseminar will include choosing a topic, setting up your call, and following
through after the call is over.

Selecting an suitable topic for your teleseminar is crucial to its
success. We are all bombarded with information, so we tend to only
be affected when something catches our attention. You do not want to make
claims that are untrue, but you must get people’s attention if you expect
them to set time aside to listen to your call, or to download the replay and
listen to it later. Take a look at what you have to offer people. Use
words that will make your call more desirable. You can even make it time
sensitive for better results.

Set up the call so that it is simple for people to join you. You now
have options that were not available just a few years ago. I like to offer
both a telephone line and a webcast, allowing listeners to choose how
they will participate. The webcast makes it possible for someone to listen
right through their computer, and asking questions by typing in on their
screen.

This is good for those who live in different countries, people who wish to do
something else while listening to your teleseminars, and for those who do
not have additional minutes on their long distance plan. There are also

Many times someone will let me know about a call they have done by
writing about it on Twitter, and I will go to see if I can listen to the replay
when it is more convenient for me. This is referred to as time shifting; we
listen during the time we are available, and sometimes this may be
through an mp3 player. If they have an offer, something
they are promoting, this gives me the opportunity to decide if I will take
It advantage of it or not.

Start holding regular teleseminars on your niche topic and your business
will grow. If at all possible, do them on the same day and at the same
time each week. I did this for more than a three years, and it made a huge
difference in my business and my bottom line. My list knew that every
Thursday at 6 in the afternoon Eastern Time I would be holding my
weekly call.

Speak slowly on your calls so that listeners will be able to understand
every word you say. Also, you may want to prepare a short handout with
information they can download. Be sure to include your contact
information on each page so that people will be able to reach you in the
future. At the end of your handout include a call to action so that your
prospects will have the opportunity to connect with you in your business.

Teleseminars can also be packaged together to sell later on. For five
years in a row I created a best of series that I sold to people who had not
been on my calls in the past. This generated a solid income for me.

Get More Ranking With HubPages

High ranking on Google should always be foremost on every marketer’s mind – especially when you’re a new marketer. However, planning a site is not enough to draw the traffic. Search engines love sites that provide new content on a regular basis. This is why places like social networking sites are helpful to marketers.

One useful  free online tool  that marketers can use to raise their rank in Google and get more traffic to their website is HubPages. Using it issimilar to how you’d set up a lens on Squidoo, but there are a few differences.

First, just like with a lens, your Hub Page will need a title that uses your keywords. Remember that relevant keywords are how the pages get found. Not all keywords will perform as well for you.

For example, the word coconut gets over sixteen million global monthly hits, while the phrase ‘Godiva coconut chocolate’ gets less than fifty thousand global monthly searches. But the lesser-searched keywords also means fewer competitors.

Include keywords in your content, too. You have to be careful that you are not over the top in pitching your own or any other website. Any Hub that does that takes a hit in scoring and could get shut down. You’ll get a chance to fix your mistake and resubmit the page but you want to avoid the hassle if you can.

You can use your HubPages to promote your site and gain ranking in Google, but you have to be aware  the rules for using the site. You can not have more than two links to the same site.

No matter how eager you are to get started, be cautious that you don’t create a lot of pages with bad content in a short amount of time with links pointing to the same site. If you do that, the  search engines will assume you’re spamming.

The purpose in writing the content of course is to use Hub Pages to get the traffic to come to your site. Content that’s duplicated from another site or if you’ve written the content before will cause a problem on  a Hub Page.

Just like Squidoo, Hub Pages  has an excellent Page Rank with Google and that means by setting up pages on their website, you get to ride their coattails right up into a higher ranking by using their popularity.

Newsletter

Generating your own newsletter is just one way to make money with your list.
The process is very easy, yet few people are doing this on a regular
basis. When you are inclined to create your first newsletter you must decide
on a few  things, including which format you will use, choosing a theme
that will allow you to find thousands of prospects who will be interested
in what you have to offer on your niche topic, and then lining up some perspective contributors to submit appropriate content.

I will explain exactly what I mean with each of these.

The two most used  formats used on the Internet to send information are text and
html. Plain text allows you to get your email past most of the spam filters,
so it is the desired format for your newsletter. The objection is that plain
Text is just that – very plain and not very aesthetically pleasing. I find that
If I create a newsletter as a PDF, which stands for Portable Document
Format, and then include the link to it in my html email, I get the best of
Everything.

First start  with a word processing document where you will write your newsletter. I
Then save it and convert it to the PDF format. Then it is uploaded to my
website using a free FTP (File transfer protocol) program, such as
FileZilla or Smartftp. If this all sounds very techie, know that you can have someone
else do it, or learn how to do it yourself with someone’s help in the
beginning.

Your email is more likely to be delivered, readers can click on the link
Within the email, and they are then taken to a page on the Internet to see
my colorful newsletter. Another benefit is that it will now be indexed by
yahoo,google and the other search engines, something not possible within an
Email.

Next  to choose a theme for your newsletter must be thought out before you
begin. You want a topic that is wide enough to include information on
all aspects of what you have to offer, yet narrow enough to speak to the
exact people you are trying to reach. One method of determining this is t
see if your theme has its own magazine. You can search on Amazon to see
which magazines are available. Once you have chosen your theme, only
include articles and information that talk about those areas.

Searching for  people to contribute to your magazine should not be too difficult.
The idea is to ask people who are experts in their niche to include
information that will be of benefit to your readers. The payment they
receive is not monetary; instead, they are able to add information about
themselves at the end of their article so that readers can learn more
about them.  Submit to several online and one offline magazine each
month, and this has helped me to become better known in my niche. Ask
people to submit an article for you and see what happens. Start with
people you know personally, have met at conferences and seminars, and
those whom you have taken courses from in the past. You can exchange
articles with a small group of people and everyone benefits in the
process.

The idea is for you to only need to write one article each month, or
however often you decide to publish your newsletter, and have the
remainder of your newsletter be written by others. This will build your
business, and is an excellent way to market regularly to your list.

If you make them wait too long, they’d think you’re a fake.
